TU München: Best opportunities for students with an entrepreneurial spirit
Technische Universität München (TUM) came out on top in the current ranking "From Student to Entrepreneur." The study compares the conditions for business founders at 63 German universities. Compared with the last ranking in 2009, TUM has improved in all areas surveyed and moved up three notches. Second place is held by TU Berlin, followed by Bergische Universität Wuppertal.
Helmut Schönenberger, CEO of
UnternehmerTUM: "As the center for innovation and a launch pad for
start-ups at TUM, we encourage hands-on entrepreneurial thought and
action in students and scientists. Over one thousand of them take
part in our programs every year. Critical for the success of these
programs is that our offers in the courses of all faculties are
recognized as proof of performance. Also important is close
cooperation
with the various departments and early sensitization for potential business applications of new technologies. To this end, we have developed a network of entrepreneurial ambassadors at TUM to inspire a growing number of entrepreneurially-minded professors, graduate students and undergraduate students with an interest in business start-ups. The authors of the study identified these features as the reasons for the leading position of the TU München in the ranking."
This was the sixth time that the ranking, which is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, compared the encouragement of business start-ups at German universities. This year the team of authors headed by Prof. Jürgen Schmude from the Department of Economic Geography and Tourism Research at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München surveyed and evaluated the offerings of 63 universities.
